Play the

I Write, You Read

So far as I know, I coined the phrase: play the rest. Conceptually, I've added nothing new. I borrowed the idea from my experience as a trombone player. Composers, with all their infinite wisdom, wrote trombone parts with hundreds of measures of rests between active playing. What is a player supposed to do during extended periods of rest? Answer: play the rest; that is, a player should actively prepare for their next entrance - their next 'big' moment. For me, the phrase and idea have become a precept for living life. This blog will reflect the living out of that principle.

Stump Grinding

I am a Christian, father, son, friend, a pastor, a lover of truth and challenger to evil things - those things that I deem evil - and a man in search of permanent things. Eventually, all these things merge into one, and art runs through them.
